Listing types
When you add a page type to a content menu, you must set the listing type to control how the pages of that type will be listed.
The three listing types are:
Simple listing
All pages of the type are presented as a single list, sorted alphanumerically by title. If there are sufficient pages to warrant, the list will be sub-divided by first letter. The number of pages at which this occurs is the Menu list threshold in Use zero to disable this function.
Hierarchy
This option is available only for page types that have a custom property that selects another page of the same type. For example, the Positions page type has a Reports to property that selects the immediately superior position, if any. See
The pages are presented as a hierarchy according to the parent property value. For the Positions page type, this listing will correspond to the structure of the organization chart.
Pages at any one level in the hierarchy are normally sorted alphanumerically by title. You can set the order manually by specifying the Ordering value in the page properties. See
Classification listing
The pages are listed under one or more levels of sub-heading created from page property values.
If the classification property is a date, you can group the listed pages by day, week, month, quarter, or year.
- Quarter and year are based on your corporate year: for example, if your corporate year starts in April, Q1 means April-May-June. See
- Week uses the ISO 8601 definition: week 1 is the week containing the first Thursday of the new year.
- First group and Last group are optional. Use these if you want single groupings for historic or future items. For example, your listing might be of pages grouped by an expiry date property, and your interest is the items coming up in the next few months. You could use First Group: –1 month to include everything more than a month old, and Last group: +3 months to include everything more than three months into the future.
- The First group and Last group specifications take the form Label: number unit(s)
- Label: is optional. If omitted, the system uses Before [date] and On or after [date].
- number is the number of units (number of periods) to offset, positive or negative.
- unit, if provided, is day, week, month, quarter, or year. If omitted, the Group by value is used.
- Label: is optional. If omitted, the system uses Before [date] and On or after [date].
- The First group and Last group specifications take the form Label: number unit(s)
If the classification property is a number, you can group the listed pages by number range. Enter a space-delimited series of numbers to be used as the minimums for your listing groups. For example, if you enter “1,000 10,000 100,000 1,000,000” the listing groups will be
- Less than 1,000
- 1,000 - 10,000
- 10,000 - 100,000
- 100,000 - 1,000,000
- 1,000,000+
A group heading is displayed only if there are items to list under that heading. For listing purposes, empty numeric fields are treated as zero.
